Entertainment: World Of Warcraft

World of Warcraft, or WoW for Short, is an MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game). At one point reaching 10+ million players, although lately the player base has been dwindling. As of 2020 stats, they see about 4.8 million players with numbers going down around 150k a year. Not great, maybe a lost business opportunity, maybe it has reached its final stage of its life cycle. However 4.8 million players is not bad for a game made in 2004. WoW is owned by Blizzard, Blizzard is a massive company that has made many games that are currently doing incredibly well. WoW makes its money off of 2 things. Monthly subscription, and an in game item shop. The subscription is not required to play although it unlocks 90% of the game. So it is important. The in game shop is where players spend real life currency on virtual accessories for their characters. With numbers on a heavy decline they still manage $82 million a year. Not bad, good job Blizzard.
